What runs today and what is coming
What runs on our reference kit today, what we are still testing, and what is planned. Other pages link here for the detail.
Status board: live, in testing, planned
Live3
Today the room is controlled the way it has always been, in two layers.
9.9.1 alpha image: out for alpha testers
The hub's firmware keeps climate and lights. It runs the wired fans and the dimmed lamps from its own sensors and its own clock, inside its hard limits.
A fresh card asks for an owner PIN, and each card makes its own keys the first time it starts. It is not a public download.
The brain runs everything else
The brain runs the dashboard, plans, logs, the libraries, cameras, Zigbee, Tuya and Bluetooth devices, and the smart plugs. It looks strains up in the CannaLib catalogue online and keeps what it looks up.
If the brain stops
If the brain stops, the hub keeps running its wired fans and dimmed lamps from its own sensors and its own clock, inside its hard limits.

The planner: works out the cheapest safe set of actions across all devices, and prefers air exchange over appliances
It logs what it would do and controls nothing.
Hand-over of control, one device class at a time, each with a rollback
No device class has been handed over yet. The checks each class must pass are being run on the reference kit, one class at a time. No date.
Timed overrides
The screen is in release 9.8.9. A timed run only switches a device once its class has been handed over, so today it is recorded as planned and nothing is switched.

Maintenance and calibration reminders

Hub failsafe that holds the brain's plan
The firmware support is in the hub but not switched on. Until it is, the hub keeps running its own control loop, as described in the Live column.
Today on the reference kit
The reference kit is the grow room we run DSC on ourselves. The stamp below is written by the kit itself, so it is always what is running now.
Running on our test kit: 9.10.0 · kit firmware 9.0.0.0 · last report 22 Oct 2026
The two equipment and nutrient libraries have their own version numbers: KitLib 0.11.0 (equipment) and NuteLib 0.4.0 (nutrients), as of 30 September 2026. The reference kit runs KitLib 0.11.0.
Failsafe
If the brain stops
Each of the four Sonoff smart plugs starts off at power-on, and switches itself off if it has not heard from the brain for its own time:
| Smart plug | Switches itself off after |
|---|---|
| Heater | 60 seconds |
| Heat mat | 90 seconds |
| Humidifier | 90 seconds |
| Dehumidifier | 240 seconds (4 minutes) |
Tuya and Zigbee plugs are different: a Tuya plug holds its last state when the brain stops, and a Zigbee plug likewise has no hub cut-out behind it.
The full detail is in the guide: When the brain stops: the hub and the plugs.
Labels
How we label things on this site
Status labels on the home, features and roadmap pages use these three words. Dated history on the roadmap is marked Shipped. We do not promise dates.
Live
In a release and running on the reference kit.
In testing
Running on the reference kit only.
Planned
Designed, not built or not switched on.
The features page counts single features (175 live, 4 in testing, 3 planned). The columns above count the larger changes to how the room is controlled, so the two totals are not meant to match.
The roadmap lists what we are working on. The changelog records what changed and when. Releases lists every firmware and brain release.
