CannaLib is the strain catalog behind Compose, the Want bands and the stage model. Lights on this desk are read from DSC-KitLib, and mediums and nutrients from DSC-NuteLib: the kit's local product libraries (Settings › Integrations › Libraries).

What is in it

  • Strains: format (photoperiod or auto), flowering time, climate and root targets per stage, media and feed hints, and upstream images only when the source has them.
  • Lights (DSC-KitLib): fixtures with nameplate watts, spectrum, maker PPFD maps and recommended hang heights. A map the library has not transcribed yet says so instead of drawing one.
  • Mediums and Nutrients (DSC-NuteLib): media by composition; nutrients by brand, category, dose and stage, with a chemistry tier tag.
  • Equipment (DSC-KitLib) and feed charts (DSC-NuteLib) have no tab here. Equipment appears where a device is bound to a product, with the maker's ratings (Settings › Light › Devices); feed charts appear in the Mix panel on Root.

Three tiers, one shape

Tier Where When used
Online API The CannaLib server (Settings › Integrations › CannaLib API URL) First choice when reachable
On-Pi corpus A read-only copy on the Pi (the thin sidecar) When the API is down and Local catalog fallback is on
Curated YAML The kit's own small catalog Always present; never blocks

The tiers are for strains. Library records are always local and carry the source kitlib or nutelib. Every strain and fixture record carries a source tag. The brain refreshes roster strains and bound fixtures on boot, every 6 hours and on roster or fixture edits, and keeps the last-known values through an outage.

Using the desk

  • Pick a tab (Strains, Mediums, Nutrients, Lights) and search by name. Strains filter by Type, Format and Seed bank / breeder.
  • Pick an item for its details; fields without data stay blank. A strain shows type, breeder, temperature and RH, height, flowering, THC and lineage, with images only when the source has a licensed one. Use in Compose starts a plant from it; Add compare sets up to three side by side.
  • Runs in DSC-HUB under a strain lists its plants on the roster (zone, sprouted, days, stage, VPD in band over the last 24 h) and its harvested runs from their run reports: date, dry grams, g/m², flip → harvest days, grade and g/W.

Provenance report

Settings › Integrations › CannaLib in the grow shows, per plant and per fixture, which tier supplied the record, when, and a Refresh button.
