Root desk

Per-plant root zone: moisture, soil temperature, EC, pH, dry-back, the heat mat, irrigation shots, the soil test wizard and runoff trays.

The Root desk is per zone; each in-service probe in that zone gets a card for the plant it is assigned to. The card's title line carries the steering phase and act window and the stage's feed EC target (EC TARGET). Click a card to open the plant probe panel.

• Identity: nickname, strain, blend / media, sprout date, Flipped to flower (marked calendar guess when the brain is using the age model's stand-in, or from journal), growth stage, and chips for day, flower day, expected stage and Finish (the expected harvest window, or Finish · set flip date).
• Live Got chips: Moisture %, Soil °C, EC, pH with the Want band from the strain profile and the stage. Reading held marks a frozen value. READING FAST shows the probe has been switched to its fast poll ladder because moisture or EC is moving (a watering, a re-install).
• Want · Got · Need: Need compares the catalog targets against what was measured. No target bands means the strain profile has none for this stage.
• Dryback: the moisture curve since the last irrigation with the P1–P3 crop-steering thresholds. Probe dark or fault — rate withheld is shown instead of a guessed slope.
• Got history: the last hours per channel; the span chips are Preferences.
• Medium / Nutrition: pot size, substrate, feed recipe from Compose; editable.
• Probe assignment: detach the plant (it stays on the roster) or move it to another vacant kit probe. Apply to tent moves the plant's probe to the other tent, optionally with that tent's photoperiod template; it does not rewrite climate Want.

The irrigation mode toggle reads: Auto: the brain reads dry-back and gates act windows. Manual: timing is yours. In Auto the brain opens act windows when dry-back crosses the phase threshold; in Manual it only reports.

Shots run the pump plug for the Manual irrigation shot length (Settings › Root, default 2 s). They need a plug bound as plug_pump in Settings › Devices; until one is, the header shows NO PUMP · SHOTS WITHHELD and the shots panel says why. Shots are capped by the brain and are journaled.

The mat loop uses per-probe sense with a plausibility filter and the root-zone band from Settings › Root. Each probe can vote; a faulted probe withholds its vote rather than guessing. Heat mat 24h shows the duty history.

A six-step flow for reading a plant that has no probe:

1. Probe station — which docked probe to use.
2. Target plant.
3. Timing — how long after watering.
4. Move probe into the target pot.
5. Capture the reading.
6. Return home to the station.

Cancel at any step returns the probe to its home. The captured reading is journaled against the plant.

Leak sensors bound as leak_runoff_potN feed the Runoff trays card, which is on the Climate desk (Room): each tray's Wet / Dry, Sitting in runoff after the hold time (Settings › Sensors › Runoff sitting hold, default 30 min) and time to runoff after a shot or logged watering. On this desk, a probe card's RUNOFF EC tag shows the plant's latest logged runoff EC minus its input EC (amber at the Settings › Root threshold) and opens the runoff trend on Logs.

RESERVOIR · MIX CHECK covers the 4×8 and 2×4 reservoirs: the plants' EC band, the bound water tester's live EC and pH (NO TESTER until one is bound in Settings › Devices), days of water left, the composed recipe, the last logged source water and mix, and checks that judge the EC you measured against the band and your earlier mixes at the same strength (±10 %). Where DSC-NuteLib has the products' EC tables, a predicted EC is shown beside it, advisory only. Log mix / source water opens that reservoir's journal on Logs. The tank cutaway is on the Kit desk.
